  • Do not shave or exfoliate the day of the treatment.
  • Schedule pedicures 48 hours apart from waxing to minimize risk of reactions.
  • Schedule waxing appointments 5-7 days prior to active chemical exfoliation or microdermabrasion, 14 days prior for

  • Get a signed consent from your medical professional prior to your appointment if there is any question about interactions with medications or sensitive health conditions.

  • Please arrive freshly showered for all waxing appointments.
  • Extensive waxing including brazilian bikini wax may require special preparation.
  • Please trim all hair to approx 1⁄4 inch in length prior to appointment for best results.
  • Avoid sunlight – light exposure without sunscreen will result in undesirable pigmentation. (freckles and patches)

  • Focus on moisture and barrier protection, with items like barrier repair, vaseline or desitin ointment.

Practitioner performing laser tattoo removal on a client’s floral forearm tattoo at Beyond Esthetics in Ontario, OH.

Tattoo Removal

  • Essential oils should not be applied locally or taken orally in the days before the treatment
  • Creams containing fruit acids or retinol should not be applied in the 48 hours before treatment
  • No sauna, steam room, exfoliation treatments in the 72 hours before the session
  • The skin must not be fragile, damaged or infected
  • The patient should not be pregnant or breastfeeding (as a precaution)
  • The skin should not be tanned or recently exposed to the sun (less than a month). The skin must be completely tan-free in order to remove tattoos containing the colors orange, red, green and blue.
  • The patient must not use self-tanning products or take beta-carotene in the month before each treatment.

Like all treatments using this type of laser, side-effects are expected but are temporary.

  • Small scabs may appear but must not be scratched or picked. They will fall off on their own after 7 to 10 days.
  • The epidermis may have a bubbled appearance, but this has no real consequences and will not affect how the skin heals. If you develop a blister-like bubble, DO NOT PICK OR POP.
  • The skin may feel “sunburnt” and some redness and swelling may occur. This usually only lasts a few hours.
  • At the end of the series of sessions, there may be some residual hypopigmentation, e. the patient’s skin may be a bit lighter in areas. This is permanent, but is not due to the tattoo removal, rather the scarring caused by the tattoo itself when it was introduced into the deep layers of the dermis.

We recommend disinfecting the area and applying a healing cream twice a day for 15 to 21 days after treatment.

High-factor sun protection is also required (SPF50+) for the month following treatment.

Four women highlighting the lower body areas commonly targeted by body sculpting and skin tightening treatments in Ontario, OH.

Sentient Sculpt

  • To get the best results from your Sentient Sculpt treatment, we advise that you avoid any moisturizer or emollient on the treatment area for 48 hours prior to each session. If the skin is dry, it allows for easier passage of the cool waves through to the target subdermal fat layer.
  • We also suggest prepping the tissue with Alastins’ Body Transform (buy through our direct Alastin link or stop in the Ontario office). Body Transform includes TriHex Technology® to support the production of new, healthy elastin and collagen. When used to complement body-sculpting treatments, the peptides in the patented LipoDRONE™ delivery system help you achieve the appearance of even firmer, more toned skin on the body, giving you better results!
  • To assist with lymphatic drainage, you should drink an additional liter of water per day on your treatment day, and on the day before and after treatment.
  • For the first day after treatment, make sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoiding heat. This means avoid any extreme sun tanning or exercise the first day.
  • We recommend using our vibration plate to promote lymphatic drainage, or doing a lymphatic massage.
  • Some patients do notice small nodules after the procedure from the fat cell disruption, this is normal and will typically resolve in 2 to 3 weeks.

Gloved practitioner preparing a syringe for Sculptra treatment at Beyond Esthetics in Ontario, OH.

Sculptra

  • Avoid taking aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen, Advil®, Motrin®, Nuprin®, Aleve®, Celebrex®, Fish oil, Gingko Biloba , St. John’s Wort and high doses of vitamin E for at least 7-10 days before your appointment, unless medically necessary.
  • If you are taking prescription blood thinners such as Coumadin or Plavix, you should check with the prescribing doctor to see if you are able to stop these medicines for 7-10 days before your appointment and at least 2 days after the procedure has been done.
  • If you have any history of Herpes Simplex (cold sores) on your face, make sure you inform the provider that you have made your appointment with, one week prior to your appointment; this will allow us adequate time to prescribe a medication to prevent an outbreak.
  • Avoid dental procedures (including cleaning) 2 weeks pre filler and 2 weeks post filler
  • Come to your appointment with a clean face.
  • Bruising and swelling will be worse for the first 24-48 hours after you receive your dermal filler injections. Refrain from exercising for the remainder of the day following your injection(s). You may want to refrain from going to any special events during this time.
  • The majority of reactions to dermal fillers are redness, swelling, bruising and tenderness after the injections. These usually subside a few days after the treatment, but can last up to a week. If any of these symptoms persist longer than a week, or if you develop other symptoms, please contact our office.
  • Cold compresses may be used after the treatment to reduce swelling and decrease soreness. You may take Tylenol (if not contraindicated) every 4-6 hours after the treatment to help with any discomfort you may have.
  • Make-up may be applied a few hours after the treatment, if no complications are present, such as open wounds, bleeding or infection.
  • In the first 24 hours following treatment, limit exposure to sunlight or UV lamps. Extensive sun or heat exposure and alcoholic beverages may cause a temporary increase in redness, bruising or swelling at the injection sites. If there is persistent swelling or redness after the injections, you should limit exposure to sunlight or UV lamps until these symptoms subside (for at least 5-7 days). If sun exposure is unavoidable, use a sun block with an SPF of 30 or greater, combined with zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide.
  • Patients should avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours to prevent moving the filler or increasing blood flow to the face.
  • Avoid excessive touching or massaging the treated areas for about 6 hours after the injections.

Please do not hesitate to call the office with any questions or concerns at 567-560-5558.

7 DAYS BEFORE Treatment:

  • Avoid chemical peels, waxing, electrolysis, Laser treatments, or threading.

  • Avoid aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Voltaren and other anti-inflammatory medications. We want inflammation to occur – as this is one mechanism by which PRP works.
  • Avoid excessive sun or heat exposure.

3 DAYS BEFORE Treatment:

  • Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Salicylic Acid, or other “anti-aging”, “acne”, and “bleaching” products. Also AVOID waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily of SPF 30 or higher.

Day of Treatment

  • Please arrive to the office with a “clean face”. Do not wear makeup. No lotions, makeup or other topical products should be applied on the day of the procedure.
  • Make sure you eat and have plenty to drink the day of your treatment if you are having your blood drawn for PRP.
  • If the area to be treated requires shaving due to hair involvement, please shave the area the evening prior to your visit, to avoid any trauma or rash from shaving.
  • A topical anesthetic cream will be applied for about 45 minutes prior to your procedure.
  • You may expect a certain degree of discomfort, redness, and/or irritation during and after treatment.
  • Leave the PRP on your face for 6 hours (it may feel like dry egg whites on your skin), then you may wash with warm water and put your mask on for at least half an hour or longer, and then rub mask product into skin and leave on overnight.
  • Use serum twice daily until finished.
  • You may have a bruise at the blood draw site.
  • You will look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This typically diminishes within the same day or within 24 hours.
  • If you experience any pain or discomfort you may take Tylenol or other Acetaminophen-containing products as directed. Cold compresses can be applied to reduce swelling if necessary.
  • Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen, Motrin or Advil. These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for your skin rejuvenation.
  • Light scabs may form in the treated area and remain for 24 to 48 hours.
  • Do not pick or scratch treated skin but instead keep it moisturized.
  • Use a gentle moisturizer as needed.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure, including tanning booths, and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily of SPF 30 or higher.
  • Avoid warm environments (i.e., hot tubs, jacuzzis, steam rooms, hot yoga, saunas, etc.) for 3 days post treatment.
  • By day two or three, your skin may feel a bit dry. This is normal and will resolve on its own. • You may return to your skin care products and makeup when your skin is not irritated, typically 4 -5 days after treatment.
  • You will begin to see improvements in the overall texture and tone shortly after your treatment, but the overall effects take up to 3 months, for optimal improvement.
  • New collagen formation takes 4-6 weeks to develop; please be patient.
  • It is recommended to have a minimum of 3 treatments, 4 weeks apart for maximum benefit.

Interlocking puzzle pieces labeled “PAIN” and “RELIEF” representing ProNox pain relief.

ProNox

Here are the PRO-NOX benefits:

  1. You self-administer it
  2. Quick onset – takes effect in seconds
  3. Immediate relief from pain and anxiety
  4. Short duration – can return to activities
  5. No oral pain medications or narcotics
  6. Ideal for aesthetic procedures
  • Pro-Nox is an odorless, tasteless gas that is administered through a small tube that is usually held in your hand. This means you decide when you need more or less pain relief during your procedure.
  • The nitrous oxide works to relax you, reducing pain and anxiety quickly and safely. It does this by interfering with pain receptors in your nerves to prevent or reduce how much pain or discomfort you experience.
  • Since it is inhaled as a gas, it works almost immediately to reduce anxiety and pain and quickly leaves the body after your procedure is finished.
  • Another term often used with nitrous oxide is ‘laughing gas’ because it can cause a slight sense of euphoria, tingling, and/or relaxation. Our specialists will be monitoring your response the entire time to ensure you’re getting just the right amount of Pro-Nox during your procedure to keep you comfortable and safe.
  • Nitrous oxide is especially helpful during procedures that tend to cause anxiety or pain.

Be sure and talk to our staff about the opportunities for using PRO-NOX.

  • The effects of Pro-Nox occur nearly instantly when administered and clears the body very quickly after you complete your treatment, allowing you to carry on with the rest of your day without feeling drowsy or dizzy.
  • If you will be having an extended length appointment or have had extended reactions “laughing gas” in the past, please consider having some pick you up.
  • Make sure you eat something light before you come in. If you feel drowsy or dizzy ask us for a water/crackers.

Please do not hesitate to call the office with any questions or concerns at 567-560-5558.

Client receiving a Plasma IQ treatment at Beyond Esthetics in Ontario, OH.

Plasma IQ

  • Avoid sun exposure (apply sunscreen daily and do not tan at all – including self-tanner) for 2 to 4 weeks before and after treatments.
  • Do not use any retinol products (or products containing tretinoin) or exfoliants on the area to be treated for one week.
  • Avoid Accutane (or isotretinoin products) for 6 months prior. Let your doctor know if you have a history of hyperpigmentation.
  • If you are having the area around your eyes treated, avoid wearing contacts on the day of your treatment.
  • Continue your normal daily activities acknowledging you will have carbon crusting “scabs” occurring on the treatment areas causing a “social downtime.”
  • These scabs will fall off at 3-5 days, and this is when you are permitted to resume wearing makeup.
  • Keep area covered with Vaseline, Aquaphor, Instant Balm, or Nectar.
  • Avoid exercise (especially sweating onto the area) for at least 3-4 days. Heat, sweat and/or steam can add to the inflammation that is already present.
  • Redness and swelling can occur and may last several weeks for some patients.

Practitioner shaping and filling a client’s eyebrow with a microblading tool during a cosmetic treatment in Ontario, OH.

Permanent Makeup

Pre-care is important to get the skin at optimal condition for color deposit, keep you comfortable during the procedure, and reduce potential swelling and bruising after your appointment.

GENERAL FOR ALL PROCEDURES:

•Do not drink alcohol or excessive caffeine 24 hrs before and 24 hrs after your treatment. Both alcohol and caffeine are blood thinners and can result in poor pigment retention.

•Do not book any major events (wedding, vacation, social event) during the 2 weeks after the procedure, a little peeling or flaking will occur.

•You should not wear any makeup, creams or sunscreen on the procedure area until fully healed and no sign of scab.

•Avoid facials, chemical peels, or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks prior to appointment and 2 weeks following procedure.

•Absolutely no anti-aging or anti-acne products on or around the procedure area for two weeks prior to your appointment as they contain active ingredients that should be avoided pre + post procedure.

•The procedure area must be free of all irritations including ingrown hairs, rashes, blemishes, eczema, psoriasis ect.

•Avoid sweating, sun, gardening, any recreational swimming, pools, hot tubs, tanning booths and all creams around the brow area for two weeks after procedure. Please plan accordingly.

•Although there is no medical evidence that tattooing would have an effect on an unborn child, we don’t know for sure. There is a miniscule risk of infection but the increase in natal hormones significantly affects pigment retention, so we prefer to have you come in after the baby is born and you are no longer nursing.

•Avoid supplements with blood thinning effects. Supplements that have blood thinning effects include dong quai, fish oil, garlic, ginger, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, green tea, red clover and vitamin E, and should be discontinued 7 days prior to getting a cosmetic tattoo. These supplements may increase bleeding especially if you’re taking blood thinning medications such as warfarin or non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs resulting in poor pigment retention.

•Avoid any blood thinning medications. A number of medications make your blood less likely to clot (“thinner”) like aspirin, Midol, Excedrin, and NSAIDs ( Advil, Motrin, Naproxen, Aleve). These medications should be discontinued 7 days prior and 1 day following your appointment. If you need to take something for pain opt for Tylenol (acetaminophen). Coumadin and Plavix also have blood thinning effects but it is not recommended to discontinue them due to their medical necessity. You should be aware of an increased risk of bruising if you’re taking them.

FOR BROW PROCEDURES:

It’s beneficial to come to your appointment with your brows grown out. It’s beneficial to see how your hair grows naturally to inform the design process, and we can clean them up at your appointment. If you would like to clean them up or tint them beforehand, please do so 7 days prior to your appointment.

•If you normally pencil or color in your brows, please pencil them in how you like them. The area will be properly cleaned and re-drawn but this provides a general idea of the shape you would like.

•If you do not pencil in your brows, you can bring reference photos of brows you like but it is not necessary.

•You must stop using Retin A, Retinal, or Renova around your brow area 14 days prior to procedure. You must stop using Accutane six months prior to procedure.

•Inform your technician of how often you use any of these products before your appointment.

•Botox, Fillers or Dysport must be done at least 14 days prior to your appointment. It takes 2 weeks to settle in the skin. Receiving either within 14 days of your appointment will result in being sent home and asked to reschedule.

FOR EYELINER PROCEDURES:

•Do not come to your appointment wearing contact lenses. If you need glasses to drive home bring them to the appointment.

•Lash extensions cannot be worn during eyeliner procedures. Make sure your lash set is completely removed prior to your appointment.  You will have a follow up appointment 4-6 weeks after the initial appointment so it is best to plan to go without lash extensions for two months total.

•If you use Latisse or other lash-growth serums, discontinue them four weeks prior to your appointment.

FOR LIP PROCEDURES:

•Due to the delicate nature of lips it is advised to avoid all alcohol consumption for 48 hours prior to your appointment to reduce swelling. You can also prepare for the appointment by taking Arnica tablets starting 24 hours before your appointment time.

•If you are prone to oral cold sores it is advised to start oral anti-virals three to 5 days before the appointment and continue them for three to five days after to prevent an outbreak. If you need our CNP to call in a prescription please let us know at least 5 business days prior to your appointment.

AT LEAST 2-4 WEEKS BEFORE:

  • If you plan on getting fillers it MUST be done at least 2 weeks before because of swelling and bruising or at least 4 weeks after lip fillers for lip blush
  • At least 4 weeks to discontinue use of retinol
  • At least one year for accutane

AT LEAST 1 WEEK BEFORE:

  • HYDRATE! drink lots of water as this will help reduce dryness on your lips
  • If you have severe dry, flaky lips gently exfoliate nightly for at least 2 weeks with a gentle lip scrub 1-2 times a week followed by a lip treatment.

Suggestion: Take arnica pills a week to a few days before to help reduce inflammation, swelling and bruising before session and after.

48 HOURS BEFORE:

The following will make your lips more tender and likely to bleed more so it’ll thin your blood, so they need to be avoided till after procedure

  • No Alcohol
  • No Caffeine
  • No Aspirin, ibuprofen
  • No Caffeine (coffee and tea)
  • No Fish oil
  • No Niacin
  • No Vitamin E

NIGHT BEFORE:

  • Exfoliate and add lip treatment to hydrate lips
  • Avoid oils on lips as it will clog pores reducing pigment retention

AFTERCARE: BROWS

The day of your appointment, follow the procedure below once per hour until you go to bed.  The morning after your appointment follow the procedure below in the morning upon waking, once during the middle of the day, and once before bed.

1. Wash hands

2. Apply a small amount of Cetaphil, baby shampoo, or other non-scented, non-antibacterial soap into fingertips and gently rub together OUTSIDE OF SHOWER.

3. Wash gently in the direction of hair. It’s a few LIGHT swipes, Just to help remove excess oil and lymph.

4. Rinse Thoroughly! Cup your hands together with water and rinse to make sure all soap is removed. Do NOT scrub.

5. Pat dry and clean with a paper towel.

6. Apply balm. A rice grain amount will be enough for both brows.

•Do not perform intense exercise or sweat heavily for 10 days following treatment.

•Do not apply make up, cleansers or strong skin care products on the area for two weeks until the shedding of the skin is finished and no sign of scab.

•Light flaking and shedding might occur after the first 10 days of healing with ointment. Let scabs flake naturally and do not peel or scratch at the area.

•Do not book Facials or Peels for 4 weeks following your procedure. You must wait a minimum of 14 days after your appointment to receive Botox, Fillers or Dysport.

•Stay out of the sun, gardening, tanning booths, sauna, steam room, pools, hot tubs, recreational water activities and direct contact with animals on procedure area until healed and no sign of scab (about 10 – 14 days).

•Avoid direct water pressure on the tattoo in the shower until you are fully healed and there is no sign of scab. Try to keep the area as dry as possible, aside from washing, for the first 10 days.

•Sun exposure, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, bleaching products, Retin A, dyes or tinting will fade the tattoo over the years. Use sun protection whenever possible to help color last.

•Contact your doctor immediately if the procedure area shows any symptoms or sign of infection, including,  but not limited to red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, elevated body temperature, or purulent drainage from the procedure site. Small amount of lymph for the first few hours is normal.

•Do not pick or scratch at scabs, let brows heal naturally.

•If eyes and/or brows are sore or swollen you may apply a cold compress. The area may appear more swollen the next morning, this is normal and will subside throughout the day.

***FOR OILY SKIN: between applications of balm, once balm has fully absorbed the blot treated area with blotting papers (make sure your blotting papers do not contain any acids).

AFTERCARE: EYELINER AND LASH ENHANCEMENT

Your eyes may feel like you have been crying for several hours.  They will be sensitive. With a clean moist Q-Tip, (not your fingers) apply a thin layer of A&D Ointment to the treatment area a few times a day. Less is better. You may also use an eye rinse or drops the first day.  Do not let the color dry out.

You may experience some swelling the day of your procedure. This is normal and may be treated with an ice pack for 5-10 min. It’s OK to shower as normal – water will not hurt your permanent cosmetics.

Do not use mascara or any other eye makeup for 3 days. After 3 days, use a new tube of mascara to avoid secondary infection. Use a gentle eye makeup remover.

As the eyes begin to heal, some flaking will occur.  This flaking is normal and to be expected.  Do not pick or try to peel this skin off. When the flaking completes, you view the color from under the skin.  Most clients will see about 30-50% less color after healing is completed the first session.  All the fine detail work and finishing touches are done in the second session. At that time you may wish to darken or thicken your eyeliner.  I always say “the second, or follow up visit, is when the magic happens.”

Although this is permanent the color will fade over time. Fading is dependent on your skin’s age and its ability to retain color. Darker colors will last longer than lighter ones.

AFTERCARE: LIPS

Failure to follow your aftercare can cause weak retention and possible infection. Protect your investment

IMMEDIATELY AFTER SESSION TILL ABOUT 6 DAYS AFTER:

  • Some swelling and bruising can happen. This is completely normal and will gradually go down within a few hours to about 48 hours.
  • You can take Advil/ Ibuprofen to help right after a session along with an ice-pack at home to minimize any swelling that may have occurred.
  • First 24 hours blot lips with cotton round & green soap provided. Apply ointment right after every time.
  • Avoid hot food for 72 hours, especially hot drinks, soup, anything with steam.
  • Avoid brushing teeth for 24 hours and opt for mouth wash … this will help pigment in the center of the lips to stay.
  • Drink through a straw and avoid spicy and salty foods for 7 days.
  • Continue taking any antiviral medicine if you are prone to cold sore for at least 5 days or as suggested by your doctor.
  • Avoid physical contact on lips for a total of 7 days.
  • Keep applying ointment and or aquaphor with Q-Tip provided by your artist regularly for 7 days. Don’t use anything else. Apply a thicker layer before bedtime.
  • Color is more vibrant immediately after and will soften up to 40%-60% (this will depend on natural pigment of lips, color choice, aftercare)

AROUND DAY 3-10:

  • Lips will begin to peel, depending on each individual.
  • No scrubbing – Do not rub, wipe, or scratch the area. Use a gentle patting motion ONLY when applying ointment.
  • Do not peel or pick at the crust, this could cause pigment loss, scarring, and delayed healing.
  • Do not apply ANY topical cosmetics over the area while healing.

APPROXIMATELY 11 DAYS to 6 WEEKS AFTER:

  • Lip color will look like they all disappeared and nothing took. Trust the journey! Our skin puts a layer of skin over as it is healing and begins to reappear.
  • Full healing takes approximately 6-8 weeks.
  • Touch-up is not mandatory but most clients will want to schedule a touch up in order to give you the perfect lip blush!

I’ve had this same area waxed and decided to try out the laser this time around. I don’t think I can ever go back to waxing! This was MUCH quicker and MUCH less painful! Not to mention, Kelly was super friendly and easy going.

I could not be more happy with the service I have received from beyond aesthetics with angel and my laser hair removal. It has helped me gain so much more confidence wearing shorts and swimsuits. I can’t wait to get more work done. It is very reasonably priced and her bedside manner is incredible. She made me feel comfortable and explained every step of the process so that I know exactly what to expect and she would always check in with me and go at my speed 1,000,000% recommend! Even after the first treatment, I saw significant results. Great quality machine and excellent customer experience.

The nurses are the kindest, best women to have work on you. They explain everything in detail and help you through the procedures in every way they can. Highly recommend.

Beyond amazing !! Words can’t describe the professionalism of the staff , the overall knowledge of the procedures , most importantly the way they make you feel . Some of us are not in our 20s anymore and turning back time after years in sun and getting older can be tricky . But here at BEYOND everyone has a story , so finding something that works and will be beneficial to the patient is the main goal . For me over 50 it’s all about something that helps those fine lines , and with DIane and her knowledge of the opus light after 3 treatments , the results blew me away . Brighter , even skin tone , softer , and the overall firmness that once was almost gone came back ! Thank you Tonya , ( DIane ) and all the beautiful colleagues at BEYOND for the experience that has helped bring a face of dullnes back into the light again ! Can’t wait for what’s next !!!
